Learning German on Duolingo

These days, it's a convenient time for language learners, as there are so many different tools and platforms available. One well-known app is Duolingo, which allows users to learn foreign languages in a fun, game-like way. As of today, I’ve been using it for about 1,050 days.

For Japanese speakers, the available language courses are limited to English, French, Chinese, and Korean. However, I found that English speakers have access to a much wider range of languages.

I initially started with English, but gradually added German, Italian, and other languages offered for English speakers. Even though the courses are designed for English speakers, the instructions are short and simple—usually just three or four words—so I think it’s easy to get started without any difficulty.

Below are four examples from the German course. They include choosing the correct word to fill in the blank in a sentence, repeating spoken German, and translating an English sentence by selecting the right words from a set of German words. Since I don’t usually have opportunities to speak German, these exercises provide very good practice.
