Due to illness, I am listening to the NHK radio English program for the first time in two years. I used to buy the Kindle version of the textbook, but this time, I purchased the printed version. I was surprised by the prices: the Kindle version costs 558 yen, while the printed version is 660 yen. Decades ago, I remember it being around 150 yen. One thing that hasn’t changed is that the program still starts at 6:45.
The instructor is still Mr. Hiroto Onishi, who is also the author of "一億人の英文法". He has always emphasized the importance of grammar knowledge in English conversation, though it's true that some listeners dislike this approach. I’ve been listening to the program since my second year of high school, and among all the instructors over the years, the one I remember most is Mr. Katsuaki Togo. He is a phonetics expert, and thanks to him, I was able to improve my pronunciation when I was younger.
I took a quick look at the April textbook, and this month's theme is prepositions. Although I’ve only listened to two episodes so far, I’d like to share my impressions. The lessons include practice for expressing Japanese sentences in English using expressions from the dialogues, as well as learning more natural English pronunciation.
I'm looking forward to continuing my studies and doing my best throughout the year.
